Greece is a very beautiful and interesting country where different landscapes follow one another and different traditions take over village after village, day after day! Being an EVS volunteer in Greece is not just about your contribution to the social project of your host organisation. It is also about getting to know a different country, Greece in this case. Everytime, there are around 100 foreing volunteers all around Greece. You will find them in big cities and small villages, in some islands or mountains, on the boarders of the country or right in the middle. It is a good chance to visit some of your fellow volunteers and this way also visit interesting and beautiful places and traditions of Greece!

Meteora (Thessaly)
The monasteries of Meteora are one of the most extraordinary sights in mainland Greece. Built into and on top of huge pinnacles of smooth rock, the earliest monasteries were reached by climbing articulated removable ladders. Later, windlasses were used so monks could be hauled up in nets, a method used until the 1920s. |
Chania-Venetian Port (Crete)
The picturesque Venetian Port of Chania is as poetic as a city can get. Built on ruins of ancient Kidonia, it has survived many invaders, but has also tasted civilizations that left their marks on building faces, castles, walls, antiquities, monasteries and churches.

Monemvasia (Peloponese)
The heavily fortified medieval town of Monemvasia shelters on the edge of its island-like rock. This, until recently ghost town, was the medieval seaport and commercial centre of Byzantine Peloponesse.

Ia (Oia) (Santorini-Cyclades)
Santorini one of the most famous islands of the Aegean differs from other islands of the Cyclades thanks to its geographical morphology, the result of the activity of a now dormant volcano. The large eruption that took place in the 16th centrury B.C. caused large parts of the island to sink and created a large crater (caldera).

Nafplio (Peloponnese)
One of the loveliest cities of Greece. The old town with its neoclassical houses, pictersque streets, wooden balconies with cascading flowers, Turkish fountains and the Costitution Square with outdoors café tables reminds of fairy land! |
